In my paintings I use oil as my primary medium. I do at times work with charcoal and pencil to create additional interest.
These artwork galleries bring together Karen Rootenberg’s original oil paintings, created in Cape Town and shaped by themes of humanness, soul, spiritual imagination, psychological depth, the feminine, beauty, conflict and transformation.
You will see a gambit of human emotion in all the galleries. In some of the paintings there is a backdrop of nature as a complementary feature. Animals have a way of saying “hello” in my paintings.
Undergirding many of the paintings is a hint of the esoteric.
